As a key contributor to the “Badger Love Report” podcast, a three-episode series developed for JOURN 457 (Storytelling Through Sound), I gained hands-on experience in end-to-end audio storytelling. Ep. 1: Spring Break Special
Spring Break is a time to forget about school for a week, focus on yourself, and let yourself loose from school assignments. However, Spring Break is not only for vacationing down south or somewhere warm. Some students leave their up-tight morals behind when traveling for Spring Break, seeing it as an opportunity to relieve some sexual tensions. This episode covers a few hookup stories from Spring Break from University of Wisconsin-Madison students. These stories include a UW-Madison student who had a Spring Break hookup story of his own. Another student spoke to our host about the culture of Spring Break. Tune in to hear stories about the unique situations that real Spring Breakers from UW-Madison have found themselves in.
Ep. 2: Dating Apps
On college campuses, students use dating apps primarily for hook ups and short-term semester flings. It is an easy way to connect with others. Some apps even let users select how serious of a relationship they are seeking. It is estimated that over half of college students, approximately 65%, are using dating apps. Dating app notifications are constantly interrupting course lectures, and many students see scrolling on apps as a kind of game. Tune in to Badger Love Report to get to the bottom of why college students are using dating apps and hear relatable stories about dating apps.
Ep. 3: Sexual Wellbeing
College is a time for young adults to flourish. After that first dorm drop off, students spread their wings to find their lifelong passions, which can include exploring their sexuality. Students are not properly educated on STDs or consent, making sexual health and wellbeing are some of the most prominent issues on campus. One in four college students on campus have an STD. University Health Services at UW-Madison has a sexual health clinic to provide students with individualized, risk-based screening as well as targeted, problem-focused care. Tune into Badger Love Report’s episode this week to hear relatable stories about sexual health, and what you can do to protect your sexual health and wellbeing.
